What is a TTRPG?

Table-Top Role Playing Games are games that were designed to be played with a group of friends around a table. Many of these games are considered “pen and paper” games, meaning all they require from their players is imagination, pen, and paper. Many use dice to add elements of chance to game mechanics. In our digital age, there are online tools such as Foundry that facilitate these games virtually.

These games typically have a participant that is designated to act as the game master in order create the “game world.” This is the role our Storytellers take. Our Storytellers facilitate the collaborative story built by all the players, act as the non-player characters (NPCs) the player characters (PCs) interact with, and provide the framework and rules interpretation for the adventure.

What Type of Stories and Adventures are Found in TTRPGs?

There are a wide variety of TTRPGs, which offer unique experiences. Any story that can be thought of can be told as a storytelling game in the right TTRPG.

Many people think of magical, medieval fantasy settings (like Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings) when they think of TTRPGs. While this may be true for games told with Dungeons and Dragons, there are a wide variety of systems and settings. There are TTRPGs to play as comic-book style superheroes in a contemporary setting, kids going on adventures with magical/digital companion creatures, magical girls, and more.

TTRPG stories may also differ in tone: one group may enjoy a silly adventure with cartoon like hijinks, while another wants an epic saga with gravitas. We will ask about these nuances when you talk to us about a custom/private session. We will also list some of these characteristics in our open/public game listings.

Who Plays TTRPGs?

We firmly believe that the power of stories is universal, and storytelling has no borders. There is a TTRPG that will fit almost any age-group and desired story experience! If you enjoy stories or video games, there is almost certainly a tabletop role-playing game that will capture your heart and imagination.

We host long-running campaigns with committed groups, open one-shot single-session games, and private events. A standard session involves 3-5 collaborative players meeting for 3-4 hours, with scheduled breaks. We specialize in providing our experience online, but can provide in-person experiences on a limited, case-by-case basis. If you’ve been looking for a table, we welcome you to ours.

A TTRPG experience with one of our experienced Storytellers is perfect for special events and corporate team-building events! Stories bring us together to share in the experience together, and nothing does that quite like the collaborative storytelling of a tabletop roleplaying game.
